A disturbing incident occurred in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region, where a group of unidentified youth attacked the Municipal Police Commander, DSP Nana Boakye Yiadom. The commander was left severely injured and is currently receiving treatment at the Bono Regional Teaching Hospital.

According to reports, the incident began when DSP Yiadom went to arrest a suspect in the Tohaba area, but found the suspect absent. Instead, he detained the suspect’s pregnant wife and brought her to the police station. This move sparked anger among the youth, who stormed the police station to free the woman.

During the attack, the youth vandalized the commander’s vehicle, the charge office, and other items, including a flat-screen TV, fridge, computer equipment, and sliding doors. They also broke into the cells and freed eight inmates. The police station suffered significant property damage.

It’s worth noting that DSP Yiadom’s actions have been questioned, particularly his decision to detain the suspect’s pregnant wife. The incident highlights the need for police to exercise caution and respect for human rights when carrying out their duties.
