Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man fell to his death from a balcony.
Police were called to Salford shortly after midnight on Saturday following an incident at an address in Liverpool Street.
Emergency services attended and a man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries but passed away in hospital the same evening.
A man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has now been arrested on suspicion of murder and a second man has also been arrested on suspicion of murder. Both remain in police custody.
Chief Inspector Lee Gridley said the police investigation is ‘progressing at pace’.
He said: ‘Firstly, our thoughts remain with the man’s family and friends as they grieve the death of their loved one.
‘We now have two men in custody, and they are being questioned by detectives.
‘The investigation is progressing at pace, and we have a team of detectives working to establish the full circumstances that led to this tragic incident.

‘We understand that incidents of this nature may cause concern within the community; however, we believe this is an isolated incident and that there is no wider risk to the public.’
A Home Office post-mortem is due to take place today.
