    A Nigerian lady has taken to X (Twitter) to warn internet users about using their phones near open flames after losing a relative.

    The user who identified as @madukoko shared that her cousin had lost his life after using his devices near a cooking gas which was situated outdoors.

    The lady who appeared to have had doubts about the myth that ‘using your phone near a cooking gas could cause a fire or explosion’ warned people against making such a mistake after confirming that it could happen.

    Her tweets read;

    “Please don’t carry your phones near open flame I just lost my cousin this morning. Thank you. It was a cooking gas incident, I feel everyone should be aware of the dangers by now. It’s all very true”

    The incident which was a sad one had tweeps sympathizing with her in the comment section, while others joined her in warning people against the dangers of using their phones near a cooking gas.

    Below are some of the comments;

    “Sorry for your loss ma, Jesus o.  Na why I go back to stove be dis January 1st na God save me.”

    “Phone batteries explode when they’re exposed to heat. Soo sorry about this, accept my condolences”

    “Damn so sorry my dad been saying this for years I just thought he was yapping”
