Renowned highlife musician Rex Omar has called on his fellow industry players to vote for the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama.

In a video shared by UTV on November 13, 2024, Rex Omar indicated that Mahama is committed to fulfilling his promises because he has been supporting industry players while in opposition.

The ‘Obi Do Ba’ hitmaker emphasised that John Mahama has the nation at heart, and would therefore do his best to fulfil his promises.

“The reason why I am leading this campaign is because Mahama is a trustworthy person. He respects humans and also has the nation at heart. He has been giving out money to creatives from his pocket while in opposition, so this means when you vote for him, he will do more.

“John is the only president, who despite all his busy schedule would pick up a phone to call me and find out how I am doing. So place your trust in him and he will fulfil his promises,” he said.

John Mahama, at the same event in Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, noted that when voted into power in the December 7 elections, he would build a second National Theatre in Kumasi.

“Since the Chinese built the national film theatre during the Rawlings administration, there has not been a major facelift so you can see that the place is in a poor state. Even when people want to make use of the place, due to the poor stature of the film theatre it makes it difficult for them,” he said.
