Ghanaian gospel musician Piesie Esther has spoken for the first time after weeks of controversy surrounding the much-anticipated Ghana Music Awards USA.

It may be recalled that gospel singer Empress Gifty became the subject of discussion after she won the Artiste of the Year award at the 2025 Ghana Music Awards USA.

After beating King Promise, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Diana Hamilton, Joe Mettle, Fameye, and KiDi to win the ultimate award, Empress Gifty’s husband, Hopeson Adorye, questioned in a viral video why gospel musicians had failed to congratulate his wife.

Reacting to Hopeson Adorye’s statement, Piesie Esther, in an interview with Power FM shared on social media on September 14, 2025, said there is nothing wrong if the ‘Watch Me’ hitmaker was not congratulated.

She recounted a similar incident that happened in 2023 when she won the Artiste of the Year award at the Ghana Music Awards USA.

According to her, no gospel musician congratulated her at the time; therefore, it is normal if Empress Gifty did not receive such recognition.

“I won the Ghana Music Awards USA Artiste of the Year in 2023, and no one congratulated me. So it is normal,” she said.
