The Member of Parliament for the Old-Tafo constituency, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, Esq., has expressed concerns about the constant unsubstantiated allegations against Parliamentarians, describing them as unacceptable.
In an interview with Kwame Adinkrah on Kumasi-based Pure FM, Assafuah remarked that people cannot make accusations without providing evidence.
“We are using perception and allegations to tarnish Parliament’s image. We cannot allow this to fester.”
Assafuah urged Ghanaians, particularly the youth, to engage politicians in issue-based debates rather than resorting to insults and unsubstantiated claims on social media.
“I will be in Parliament this morning. Oliver Baker-Vormawor must justify his claim. If he is able to prove it, we will use the opportunity to clean up Parliament. If he is unable to, we will defend Parliament’s integrity. It is unacceptable for anyone to post unverified claims on social media without any proof.”
He further emphasised the importance of constructive dialogue, stating, “We are not wiser than anyone else. We have simply been given an opportunity to serve.
“Let us debate issues. Let us learn from one another. I know the youth are intelligent and capable. They can engage in advanced research, which can benefit Parliamentarians and stakeholders alike.”
