A medical doctor has shared on social media how a patient he revived from the brink of death later turned on him and caused chaos at the hospital.
In a series of tweets on X (formerly Twitter), the doctor described the incident as the most traumatizing experience of his medical career.
According to the doctor, the patient was rushed in the day before in critical condition, barely clinging to life with a PCV of just 8% due to massive upper gastrointestinal bleeding.
After receiving urgent care, including four units of fresh blood transfusion, the man made a miraculous recovery.
But in a shocking turn of events, the same patient returned the next day, not in gratitude, but with a group of thugs to cause mayhem over the outstanding hospital bill.
The doctor recounted how the man pointed at him and yelled, “Shey na you cause this thing? You dey craze!” before fleeing the hospital without settling the balance of ₦100,000.
The staff were not left out in the chaos as they were insulted and the gateman was severely assaulted.
The incident has reignited conversations around why hospitals insist on financial deposits before commencing treatment.
Below are some of the comments;
“2017 I saw a patients mother throw her 2 year old baby down to the father from the top floor of the 2 story building hospital I was working then just to abscond. This was after managing the child back to life for about 3 weeks.”
“If you have said they should pay first, they would have brought out phone to video that the hospital staffs are wicked”
“Don’t even bother so much, massive upper GI bleeding absconding. LOL. Just give him few weeks, he will come back worse. He has not even though endoscopy to rule out gastric CA, his eyes will peel”
