The father of Ghanaian hiplife star Patapaa, born Justice Amoah, stirred emotions after he was seen looking visibly devastated at the one-week observance of his late wife.

Social media was thrown into mourning on January 15, 2026, following the announcement that Patapaa’s mother, Madam Ekua Boatemaa, popularly known as Mama BOAT, had passed away.

The news was first shared by Winneba-based media personality Emmanuel Kwesi Aboagye Essibu, widely known as DJ Linguist, who extended his condolences to the grieving family.

On Tuesday, January 17, 2026, family, friends and sympathisers gathered at the Amoah family house in Agona Swedru for the traditional one-week observance.

Patapaa was present at the ceremony alongside his sisters, all appearing sombre as they mourned their beloved mother. However, it was the rare public appearance of the musician’s father that particularly caught the attention of many.

Seated quietly among mourners, Patapaa’s father appeared downcast and heartbroken over the loss of his wife. Though visibly affected, he maintained a composed and dignified posture throughout the ceremony.

A TikTok video capturing the emotional moment has since circulated widely online, drawing heartfelt reactions from Ghanaians who expressed sympathy for the bereaved family.

Many social media users offered prayers and words of encouragement, noting the pain of losing a spouse after many years of companionship. Others commended the elderly man for his strength and calm demeanour despite the obvious grief.

The one-week observance is a significant aspect of Ghanaian funeral tradition, serving as the first formal gathering of family and community members following a death.

As the Amoah family continues to mourn, messages of support continue to pour in from fans and well-wishers across the country, with many urging the public to respect their privacy during this difficult period.
