Owner of Spintex Knights basketball team, Dr. Eric Opoku-Antwi, has disclosed that his wife and mother have played pivotal roles in sustaining the team.

He cited an instance where his wife agreed for their two-bedroom house to be used by players of the team ahead of an international assignment.

Dr. Opoku-Antwi also recalled how his wife used her finances to prepare food for the entire team when things were tough for him.

“You are at home, you’re married, and we have to travel. We’re in a two-bedroom house, and the whole team has to sleep over there and wait till the bus comes in for us to move to Nigeria, and she agreed.

“There are times when we play games, and she has to cook for the whole team. Not just here alone,” he told Emmanuel Enin on GhanaWeb’s Sports Check program.

The owner of Spintex Knights also highlighted how his mother contributed huge sums of money to the club for their participation in the Basketball African League (BAL).

“My mother has also been very supportive. Every time we go outside, let’s say to Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and we come back, she hosts the whole team here. So, those two women have been very, very supportive financially.

“My mother also gives the team money. When we’re going abroad, my wife and I used our whole life savings to go to the BAL and life is still going on,” he added.
