Collins Owusu Amankwah, Chairman of the late Daddy Lumba’s funeral planning committee, has revealed that the Ghana Police Service has pledged to deploy no fewer than 400 officers for the highlife legend’s final funeral rites.

This comes after the funeral date, December 6, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, was officially announced to the public.

Speaking on DL FM after announcing the official burial date, Collins Amankwah said the team is preparing for a huge turnout, with projections of over ten thousand mourners expected to attend the event.

He recalled that during the one-week observation, which took place on August 30, 2025, at the Black Star Square, the Ghana Police Service deployed about three hundred officers to manage the large crowds that gathered to pay their respects.

According to him, the upcoming funeral will include a number of activities, including a special cocktail event in the evening, where the Ghana Armed Forces military band will perform in honour of the late legend.

He added that the military has also promised to deploy its personnel to the venue to support the police in maintaining order.

“On the day of the burial, we are expecting not less than ten thousand mourners, which is quite huge. But the assurance we have is that the Ghana Police Service has promised to deploy no fewer than four hundred officers. During the one-week observation, they deployed three hundred officers. In addition to that, there will be a cocktail party where the military band will perform, and we’ve been assured that the military will also deploy personnel for the event,” he said.

Daddy Lumba‘s burial date set for December 6

Daddy Lumba, who passed away on July 26, 2025, will be laid to rest on December 6, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
