The Metropolitan Security Council, led by the Mayor of Kumasi, Richard Agyeman Boadi, has announced the deployment of over 1,000 security personnel to ensure strict adherence to the curfew imposed by the Manhyia Palace during the burial of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

The curfew, set to take effect from 5 pm on Thursday, September 18, 2025, is part of the measures to maintain order and security during the funeral proceedings.

The Ashanti Region Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, led a delegation of Municipal Chief Executives (MMCEs) to the Manhyia Palace to pay their last respects to the late Asantehemaa.

Speaking to OTEC News Reporter Kwame Agyenim During the visit, Richard Agyeman Boadi emphasized the importance of the curfew and warned the public to avoid the streets on the specified day to avoid any inconvenience.

The security personnel deployed will be stationed at vantage points across the metropolis to ensure compliance with the curfew.

The Metropolitan Security Council has urged residents to cooperate with the security agencies to ensure a peaceful and successful funeral celebration.

The late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, was a revered queen mother of the Asante Kingdom, and her burial is expected to draw large crowds.

The Manhyia Palace has put in place measures to ensure that the funeral proceedings are conducted with the dignity and respect due to her royal status.
