    The official X (Twitter) account of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has responded to the claims made by former presidential Labour Party (LP) candidate Peter Obi.

    In a post made by Peter Obi on his verified X (Twitter) account on Sunday, April 27, 2025, he accused JAMB of endangering Nigerian youths, by setting such an important exam so early in the morning around 6:30 a.m., and in hard-to-reach or remote locations.

    Due to this, students ages 15 –17, were compelled to arrive at their examination venues as early as possible, and this he claims has endangered the lives of these youths.

    He wrote;

    “I came across multiple reports of students being asked to attend a public examination by 6:30 AM, teenagers, mostly around 15-17 years old, forced to travel in the dark, even in the face of insecurity, across dangerous and unfamiliar locations, because they want to get the basic right of education and sit for JAMB examinations. Setting exams for vulnerable teenagers as early as 6:00 AM while transporting them across far-flung locations is reckless.”

    JAMB issued a response to his claims, refuting them and asserting that their exam was held by 8:00 a.m., not 6:00 a.m. They explained that it was the verification process that began at 6:30 a.m. so that candidates had adequate time to settle in before the exam started.

    Their response;

     “Our examination is scheduled to commence at 8:00 am, not 6:00 am. Verification and clearance begin at 6:30 am to afford candidates adequate time to settle in,”
