Otto Addo and Ernest Nuamah

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has paid a personal visit to Ernest Nuamah in France as the Olympique Lyon forward begins his recovery from a serious knee injury that has ended his season.

Nuamah, 20, sustained a devastating anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in Lyon’s Ligue 1 clash with Lille on 5 April 2025, forcing him off just minutes into the game after a collision with Gabriel Gudmundsson.

Scans later confirmed the extent of the damage, and the player underwent successful surgery soon after.

With the recovery process now underway, Addo took time to check on the young winger, offering encouragement and assessing his physical and mental progress. The visit is part of Addo’s continued efforts to maintain strong relationships with his players.

Sources close to the Ghanaian camp say Addo’s presence was deeply appreciated by Nuamah, who is now focused on rehabilitation and staying mentally strong.

The Ghana Football Association has also pledged its full support, promising to stand by the player throughout his recovery.

Nuamah had been in solid form before the injury, registering six goal contributions in Ligue 1 and the UEFA Europa League.

He is among the Ghanaian internationals to suffer an ACL injury this season, following similar setbacks to Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Alidu Seidu, and Abdul Mumin.
