Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has expressed concerns about the negative impact of toxic environments on player performance.

According to Otto Addo, supporting the team boosts players’ confidence, whereas the countless attacks from fans can distract players and affect their performance.

He appealed to Ghanaians to tone down on the criticism and rally behind the players as they seek to beat Angola on Friday, November 15, 2024.

“I ask for your support. When players feel at home, they’ll give their best. But in a toxic environment, it’s difficult for them. They’re human, and we must support them. We all want Ghana to win and succeed,” he said.

The former Black Stars midfielder outlined the technical team’s strategies to ensure players’ comfort and confidence ahead of the game.

“Our technical staff will try to make them feel at home, to make them feel good and also talk about the negative and positive moments in our previous games. Because there were lots of positives from the matches we have played and we created lots of chances and now, we have to work on them to be able to score,” he added.

With only two points gained from four games, Ghana risk missing the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. However, Addo would hope that his players will deliver against Angola on Friday, November 15, 2024.
