Former Board Chairman of Ghana Airport Company Ltd, Paul Adom-Otchere, believes strongly that the Special Prosecutor’s office may have been upset by his sharp criticisms of the office and Kissi Agyebeng, the Special Prosecutor.

He disclosed this on Channel One’s Point of View show on August 4, 2025, stating that his treatment during his encounter with the Special Prosecutor, including detention, was partly due to his criticisms.

He said, “We have been critical of some of the things he has done, and he has been upset by some of our criticisms, some of which we expressed directly in person and all of that.”

He emphasised that while the Office of the Special Prosecutor has a constitutional mandate to investigate corruption, it should not be used for personal vendettas.

“So yes, we’re aware that maybe somebody there is not happy, but we don’t think that if somebody is not happy, he will prosecute you wrongly.” He stated.

Adom-Otchere has consistently scrutinised the OSP on his show, raising concerns about the office’s activities and Kissi Agyebeng’s actions.

In 2023, he criticised Agyebeng for suggesting that criticism of the bench could impact his cases, labelling Agyebeng as “dangerous to Ghana’s democracy.”

These criticisms, Adom-Otchere suggests, may have contributed to his treatment during his OSP encounter.
