At the Marcus Garvey Fundraising Awards Gala, held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra, reggae musician Osagyefo underscored the global resonance of his music as he received recognition from the Marcus Mosiah Garvey Foundation (MMGF).

Known offstage as Dennis Affram, Osagyefo has built a reputation for weaving messages of African pride, love, and social justice into his lyrics — a style that has won him international regard as a voice for political awareness and cultural empowerment. His body of work, steeped in the consciousness championed by Marcus Garvey, has made him one of Ghana’s most consistent exponents of socially charged reggae.

In his acceptance remarks, Osagyefo described the award as a powerful motivation, saying it affirmed that his music is not only appreciated locally but also acknowledged by the wider global community. “This recognition strengthens my resolve to keep spreading messages that cut across borders,” he said.

Osagyefo stood out as the only musician honoured at the event, which also celebrated individuals advancing causes in education, commerce, youth empowerment, and the arts. Other awardees included Ubalda Mensah, Worlase Fiagbedzi Afatsiawo of the UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce, Vanessa Louise Mixon Alawiye, and Jahzara Agyemang.
