An award-winning construction firm has collapsed, with staff notified about the news by email.
Open Projects Group, which operates in south-east Queensland, was placed into liquidation this week.
Director Kane McCarthy sent an email to staff, apologising for the news.
‘I’m deeply sorry that this is how things have ended,’ he said.
‘This outcome is not a reflection of your work or commitment, and I regret the impact this situation has had on you and your families.’
The company was founded in 2008 and employed more than 75 staff.
‘From this point forward, (liquidators) will be responsible for managing the business closure and all employee entitlements,’ Mr McCarthy wrote.
The company was regarded as one of the region’s largest full-service shop-fitters.

Its projects included Jane’s Rivertown Restaurant, the La Luna Beach Club and the Gold Coast Turf Club.
‘On a personal note, I want to thank every one of you sincerely,’ Mr McCarthy wrote.
‘The work delivered by Open Projects Group over the years was only possible because of the people behind it.
‘I’m proud of what we achieved together, and I’m genuinely grateful for the effort, loyalty, and professionalism you brought to the business.’
