Patapaa’s “One Corner, “though a popular song that brought the artiste fame, has been questioned by Afro-pop singer Wiyaala as to whether it was sensible enough to be played in front of the first gentleman of the land, President John Dramani Mahama.

In an interview on Hitz FM on December 11, 2025, Wiyaala was discussing what it would take for another artiste to get a feature with her.

She said the first and foremost consideration before agreeing to feature on someone else’s song is whether she likes the song.

According to her, before she collaborates with someone, the person’s song has to be sensible, no matter the theme, whether about sex or love, because she would not “jump” on just any song.

The new generation wants everything ‘quick’, take your time – Wiyaala advises

“First and foremost, I’ve got to like the song. I won’t jump on just any song. I have to like the song, and the song has to be sensible. Even if you’re singing about sex, even if you’re singing about love, it has to be sensible. I won’t jump on any song when obviously you are just trying to use me to climb up,” she said.

When asked what she considers “sensible songs,” Wiyaala explained that these are songs people listen to without just dancing and laughing, because often the laughter is actually mockery.

Using Patapaa’s “One Corner” as an example, she said that although the song was popular, one could not place it in the same category as Grammy-winning artiste Angélique Kidjo’s songs in terms of seriousness, nor would one be able to play it in front of Mahama and start jumping about.

“Songs that, when you play them, people won’t just dance to while their laughter is actually mockery. Let’s be realistic: people actually mocked Patapaa for ‘One Corner.’ It was popular, but would you place Patapaa next to Angélique Kidjo for serious reasons? The One Corner song, we all liked it, we all jammed to it, but on a serious note, would you play One Corner to Mahama and start jumping in front of him? No! You only play it at certain places,” she added.
