Ofori Amponsah is a Ghanaian singer and songwriter

Ghanaian highlife singer and songwriter Samuel Ofori Amponsah has appealed to the family of legendary musician Daddy Lumba to resolve their differences in order to protect and preserve the legacy of the music icon.

Speaking in an interview on Onua FM on November 9, 2025, Ofori Amponsah stated that controversies surrounding great personalities often become distractions that diminish appreciation for their contributions to society.

According to him, Daddy Lumba’s musical journey and immense influence on Ghana’s entertainment industry cannot be overstated, and it is only fitting that his legacy be handled with care and unity among those closest to him.

“Looking at his greatness, Daddy Lumba’s gift was so big. There’s always a controversy around someone who is great. Everyone wants a piece of him,” he said.

He noted that conflicts and public disagreements among family members could have long-term effects on how future generations perceive the highlife legend and his contributions to Ghanaian music.

“I think, for the sake of his legacy, his family and loved ones should understand that controversies can affect how his legacy is perceived. It can also influence how people feel about him after his death and the support we are willing to give them,” he shared.

He emphasised that unity within Daddy Lumba’s family is crucial, not only for peace but also for ensuring that the music icon’s achievements are celebrated and remembered appropriately.

Ofori Amponsah further proposed that a museum be established in Daddy Lumba’s honour to showcase his works, artifacts, and milestones, inspiring future generations of musicians and music lovers.

“I will urge the family to solve their differences so we can move forward. All I want is unity.

“I would be disappointed if such a great person, with a legacy that would remain relevant to the next generation, is not honoured. A museum in his honour would keep his legacy alive for generations,” he added.
