Ghanaian comedian OB Amponsah is gearing up to celebrate a decade in comedy with a special live show on December 21 at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

However, just days before the highly anticipated event, the comedian has expressed frustration with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) over hefty taxation on ticket sales.

Tickets for the show, priced at GH₵120 and GH₵150, have been on sale for weeks.

But on December 16, OB Amponsah took to Facebook to share his grievances about the financial strain imposed by the GRA.

“Charlie, Ghana Revenue Authority – Official is charging me a whopping 21.9% on ticket revenue for my show on Saturday at the Bukom Arena. I am not even going to make any profit out of this event,” – he lamented.

Despite these challenges, the comedian reassured fans that the show would proceed as planned.

“We will still have a celebration on Saturday regardless. Kindly show up in your numbers. If push comes to shove, we may have to refund everybody and settle with a free non-taxable show because this is just strangling,” – he added.

The Facebook post has quickly gained traction online, with fans and industry insiders sharing their thoughts on the matter.

While many have expressed outrage over the high taxation rate, others have commended OB Amponsah for his resilience and commitment to delivering the show despite the challenges.

“This is unfair to creatives who are trying to build their craft and bring joy to audiences,” one commenter wrote.

Another fan added, “OB, we are with you. Let’s fill the Bukom Arena and make this a success despite everything.”
