WBC Super Featherweight World Champion O’Shaquie Foster was present at the World Boxing Council press conference held today in Mexico.
During the event, a moving video was shown that recounted his story, his career with the WBC, and his most recent fight against Stephen Fulton.
Mauricio Sulaiman presented Foster with his belt, certificate, and bracelet, as well as a ring, as part of a new tradition for the organization. These awards recognize his winning the interim lightweight title in his fight against Fulton.
“It is an honor for us to welcome you here to Mexico and present you with your certificate and championship belt. We are also going to present you with a new tradition that we are starting today: a championship ring. I am very proud of you, O’Shaquie. Mexico welcomes you warmly, we welcome you to the WBC, and we thank you for your loyalty.” said Mauricio Sulaiman.
“I want to thank God, Mauricio, and the entire WBC family. It’s been a very long journey, but with the WBC supporting me from the beginning, everything has been much better. Just as they support me, I will always support the WBC. It’s the best belt in the world.” said O’Shaquie Foster.
Interim middleweight champion Jesús “Mono” Ramos Jr. was also present at Coffee Tuesday.
During the event, he received his ring, certificate, and bracelet, as the belt had been awarded to him previously after his fight.
“My father always worked to ensure that someone as important as the boxer—the trainer—was recognized. At the WBC, the trainer who helps a world champion is awarded the trainer’s belt.” said Mauricio Sulaiman
“First of all, thank you all so much for coming. I’m very happy to be here; it’s an honor. It’s my first time in Mexico City. Thank you for the warm welcome and thank you to the Sulaiman family.” said Jesus Ramos Jr.
