The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) table tennis team served up a thrilling victory in the 2025 COMAC-Petfun games, held at the Burma Camp sports complex on September 13. Oscar Forson delivered a smashing performance, dispatching his opponent from TFC with a 2-0 win (11-5, 11-8) in the grand finale.

The NPA team, led by experienced coaches Robert Amartey and Cynthia Kwabi, played a flawless game, with Forson’s precise forehand loops and powerful smashes leaving his opponent struggling to return.

The PETFUN Games, held annually by the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies, COMAC, aim to promote healthy lifestyles and networking opportunities among companies.

The team’s coaches and management attributed their success to teamwork and support, highlighting the importance of strategy and skill in the game.

As the NPA team lead coordinator for table tennis, Eric Adabanya expressed profound gratitude to the top management of NPA for the opportunity to take charge. He congratulated the entire team on the success.

Coach Robert Amartey highlighted the team’s progress, outlining plans for sustainable table tennis growth and emphasising the importance of continuous training and practice.

“We’ve made significant progress since last year, when we placed second, and we were committed, which led us to win this year’s edition. We also placed first in last month’s JoySports Invitational tournament 2025 held at the University of Ghana, Legon Sports Stadium. As part of the sustainable plans, the NPA has, over the years, supported us with new tables to help train more players, so we are making progress.” He said.

The coordinator, Eric Adabanya, and Oscar Forson thanked NPA management for their support, calling for more investment in sports development to nurture young talent, promote the growth of table tennis and employee wellbeing.
