A fire has engulfed the Northern School of Business, NOBISCO, displacing nearly 900 female students.
Reports indicate that the blaze broke out at the girls’ dormitory on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service battled the fire for several hours before bringing it under control.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported. However, the fire destroyed beds, mattresses, books, uniforms and other personal belongings, leaving many students distressed and without accommodation.
The incident comes amid persistent fire outbreaks across the country.
According to GNFS data, 5,585 fire incidents were recorded nationwide between January and November 2025, involving both residential and non-residential properties, including markets.

This figure represents a slight decline compared to the 5,596 fire outbreaks recorded during the same period in 2024.
