Ghanaian secular-turned-gospel musician, Morris Babyface, has maintained that no secular song can deliver a better message or have a better impact than gospel music.

Speaking in an interview on Okay FM on December 9, 2025, Babyface explained that while secular music may occasionally carry positive messages, true spiritual depth and divine inspiration can only come through gospel songs.

“It’s not that secular music has no good messages. I believe that music is more spiritual than physical. Gospel music has a stronger impact than secular music, no matter how similar they may be,” he claimed.

Sharing his thoughts on this subject, he recounted an interesting instance.

“I had a friend who argued with me about this issue. One day, he wasn’t feeling well and asked me to pray for him, so I started singing a secular song. He then stopped and asked what I was doing. He was expecting a gospel song. I told him, ‘You see?’

“He himself knew that there is something about gospel songs. Because they create the spiritual atmosphere for things like the holy spirit. Music is that powerful,” he narrated.

No amount of money can make me produce secular songs anymore – Morris Babyface

Morris argued that gospel music creates the spiritual atmosphere in which the Holy Spirit can work, and that human advice or secular lyrical content can never match what God has already provided in scripture.

“No secular music has a more profound message than gospel music. There is no advice that man can give that God hasn’t already given through the Bible,” he said.

According to him, once a person is inspired by God, the impact of gospel ministration surpasses that of any secular song.

Morris Babyface’s remarks follow his announcement that he will no longer produce secular music after becoming a born-again Christian.

He had earlier explained that as a believer, he could not serve both God and secular music, prompting him to devote himself entirely to gospel production.
