The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has confirmed that newly appointed members of the Black Stars’ technical team will not be paid monthly salaries ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Ghana Football Association recently strengthened the senior national team’s backroom staff with five additions: assistant coaches Alain Ravera and Kim Lars Björkegren, analyst Jose Daniel Martínez Alfonso, psychologist Carlos Lozano Romero and performance coach Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi.

Speaking to Citi Sports, Adams clarified that the appointments are strictly for the World Cup and do not come with fixed salaries. Instead, the officials will receive allowances, per diems, a share of appearance fees and winning bonuses during the tournament.

He stressed that the contractual arrangement would end after the competition.

Ghana, making their fifth World Cup appearance, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia. The Black Stars will be based at Bryant University in the United States for the duration of the tournament as they seek to improve on recent group-stage exits.
