Akosua Serwaa filed an injuction against the final funeral rites of Daddy Lumba Akosua Serwaa filed an injuction against the final funeral rites of Daddy Lumba

Daddy Lumba’s legal wife, Akosua Serwaa, has issued warning to the family head of the late musician, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, and his associates, cautioning them not to remove her husband’s body from the Transition Funeral Home in Haatso.

In a statement dated October 16, 2025, and signed by the secretary of the Fosuh family, Akosua Serwaa mentioned that the body of the late highlife legend must remain where it is until the court gives its final ruling on the legal dispute over his funeral arrangements.

“Pending the court’s final determination, no person or group including Mr. Kofi Owusu (the Abusua Panyin) and his associates has the lawful right to claim or remove the body of the deceased from the Transition Funeral Home in Haatso, Accra. Any such act would amount to a violation of ongoing court proceedings and could attract serious legal consequences,” the statement read.

The statement which was jointly issued by Akosua Serwaa and Daddy Lumba’s eldest sister, Ernestina Fosuh, expressed confidence that the case will set a legal precedent in Ghana, protecting the rights of lawful spouses in similar disputes.

“The Fosuh family remains confident that the rule of law will prevail and that the dignity of the late Mr. Charles Fosuh will be protected. They also believe that the outcome of this case will serve as an important legal precedent, reinforcing the rights of lawful spouses and women in similar situations across Ghana,” the statement added.

The court case stems from a lawsuit filed by Akosua Serwaa at the Kumasi High Court on October 2, 2025.

In the suit, she accused the family head and other associates of sidelining her in the planning of her husband’s funeral.

She is seeking an injunction to stop the funeral arrangements and a legal declaration that she is the late musician’s only lawful wife and therefore the sole person entitled to perform the widowhood rites.

The first hearing was held on October 16, 2025, before Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur.

At the Kumasi High Court, lawyers representing Kofi Owusu and Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as “Odo Broni,” challenged Akosua Serwaa’s right to bring the case before the court.

However, Akosua Serwaa’s legal team opposed their argument, insisting that the court should first address their request for an injunction before considering any objections.

Justice Smith Arthur after hearing both sides, adjourned the case to October 28, 2025, to allow all parties to file the necessary documents.

She also encouraged both sides to explore an amicable resolution to the matter.
