Some family members of the late highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that the musician is laid to rest with dignity and in accordance with the law.

In a statement issued after a court sitting on Thursday, October 16, 2025, the widow, Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh, and the late singer’s elder sister, Ms. Ernestina Fosuh, expressed gratitude to the public for their support as they continue to seek clarity on who holds lawful authority over the custody and funeral arrangements of the deceased.

Represented by Counsel William Kusi, the family maintained that the case before the court aims to establish the widow’s legal standing to oversee her husband’s burial. The suit, which remains before a competent court, has been adjourned to October 28, 2025, when a possible judgment is anticipated.

They reiterated that no individual or group, including Mr. Kofi Owusu (Abusua Panyin) or his associates, has the legal right to claim or remove Daddy Lumba’s body from the Transition Funeral Home in Haatso, Accra, until the court issues a final ruling. They warned that any such attempt would constitute a violation of ongoing proceedings and could attract serious legal consequences.

During an earlier sitting, Her Ladyship Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur cautioned the defendants against any deliberate delay tactics, emphasizing that such actions could result in cost penalties. The Fosuh family, in turn, praised the court for its professionalism, fairness, and adherence to due process.

“The Fosuh family remains confident that the rule of law will prevail and that the dignity of the late Mr. Charles Fosuh will be protected,” the statement read. “We also believe that the outcome of this case will set an important legal precedent, reinforcing the rights of lawful spouses and women in similar circumstances across Ghana.”
