Ghanaian socialite and media personality Andrea Owusu, popularly known as Efia Odo, has stated she won’t allow society to pressure her into having a child just because of her age.

In a post shared on her social media, Efia Odo explained that many people believe women must give birth before turning 30.

However, she disagrees with that idea. According to her, no one has the right to force a woman into motherhood if she isn’t ready, especially when there’s no stable home or loving environment for the child.

She noted that she would rather wait until she’s in her 40s to have a child, if that’s when she feels fully prepared to raise the child in a peaceful, loving home.

“One thing y’all are not going to do is pressure me to give birth. I’m not bringing a child into a broken home nor am I bringing a child into the world cuz society has told me that by my 30s I should’ve given birth,” she wrote.

Efia Odo also criticised the double standards in society. She pointed out that the same people who pressure women to give birth at a certain age are often the ones who insult or mock women raising children alone, known as “born ones.”

“Y’all are always talking down on born ones but stay pressuring women to give birth cuz you feel their time is up. No one can tell me what to do with my life and when to do it,” she added.
