Confusion broke out at the just-ended ShattaFest concert when the event’s MC announced that some stage monitors had gone missing and pleaded with the crowd to return them.
However, Shatta Wale’s Public Relations Officer, Sammy Flex, has clarified that no equipment was stolen.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on October 20, 2025, Sammy Flex explained that the issue stemmed from the overwhelming crowd near the stage area.
He noted that the large number of people and their struggle for space led to some of the monitor cables being accidentally pulled out, causing the monitors to go off.

He explained that as the situation got more intense, sound engineers and technicians rushed to fix the issue by reorganizing and reconnecting the monitors.
This, he said, was why the MC had appealed for the monitors to be “brought back,” even though none had been stolen.
Sammy Flex added that despite the team’s efforts to restore the monitor, it was difficult to control the crowd, who refused to move back to allow the engineers to work.
“The numbers were crazy, especially around the stage, and everybody was struggling for space. I think out of that struggle, they pulled out the cords or wires from the monitors. So, at a point, most of the monitors went off because there were no cables connected to them. I’m sure when it started getting that serious, the sound engineers and technicians tried to mobilize and reorganize all the monitors on the stage.
“That’s why the MC was talking about it, because we wanted to continue the show after that small hold-up. We were trying to bring everything back, but even at that point, it was very tough. The crowd wouldn’t listen or move back. We even thought that the hold-up would reduce the numbers, but it didn’t change anything. So we had no option but to continue with the performance,” he explained.
