Former Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye has expressed full support for Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams and National Sports Authority (NSA) Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, voicing confidence in their ability to steer Ghana’s sports sector in the right direction.

Adams’ appointment has generated a wave of optimism among citizens, who now hold high expectations for a significant transformation in the nation’s sports landscape.

Many believe that Adams can bring a fresh perspective to the Ghana Premier League (GPL) while also prioritizing the development of other sports disciplines beyond football.

Vanderpuye shares the public’s optimism and believes that the collaborative efforts of the current leadership can help avoid past mistakes while fostering meaningful progress across all areas of sports development in the country.

Speaking to Citi Sports, the former Minister of Youth and Sports expressed his unwavering support but subtly noted that previous standards had been low, presenting an opportunity for improvement.

“I have 100% trust in the Minister of Sports and Recreation, and I have 120% trust in the new Director of the National Sports Authority. All of us are working together to ensure that the mistakes of the past are not repeated,” he said.

Since his appointment, he has called on the media to actively engage with football fans, encouraging them to voice their concerns about the current state of sports in the country.

He emphasizes the importance of collaboration between fans, the media, and club administrators to collectively revive Ghanaian sports.
