Nigerian athlete, Tobi Amusan has clinched the silver medal in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
The world record holder clocked 12.29 seconds to finish in second place in a fierce race that saw the finest runners compete for the top spots.
Canada’s Ditaji Kambundji recorded 12.24 seconds to win the gold medal; Grace Stark of the USA finished third with 12.34 seconds to claim the bronze medal.
In the semi-final, Amusan overcame a tough challenge from the Netherlands’ Visser, who clocked 12.45 seconds to place second and also qualified for the final.

Before the semi-final, Amusan clocked 12.53 seconds to win her heat, finishing ahead of the Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton and Italy’s Elena Carraro, who placed second and third, respectively.
Despite recording the fifth-best reaction time at the start, Amusan took control of the race early and maintained her lead to the finish line.
The second-place finish cements her reputation as one of the best athletes in the 100m hurdles, as she has set records in the past.
