Nigerian artist Rema continues to earn recognition from places outside his home country, as the Mayor of Boston has awarded him a “Certificate of Recognition” for his contribution to music.

The Mayor praised him for bringing joy to people around the world with his music, while staying true to his roots and heritage. This comes after Rema performed at Coachella earlier this year and also sold out Madison Square Garden.

He remarked that Rema has been able to reach people around the world with music, showing how broad his influence is.

The certificate read;

“In recognition of his global influence and ability to bring joy to people in Boston and beyond, we honor Rema for championing Afrobeat and promoting African culture worldwide. His music resonates across continents while preserving the spirit of Africa both in Boston and beyond, Rema continues to inspire by proudly representing the richness of African identity and creativity. On behalf of the City of Boston, we extend our sincere congratulations.”

Fans were quick to congratulate the artist on his achievement, praising him for positively representing the country.

They also subtly dragged other Nigerian artists and people for not carrying the news, which was a positive reflection of Nigeria, instead of focusing on other less favourable news.
