Nigeria have failed to secure an automatic qualification for the 2026 World Cup
Despite a brilliant hat-trick from Victor Osimhen that powered a dominant win, Nigeria’s bid for automatic qualification has ended in disappointment.
The Super Eagles were banking on South Africa to drop points against Rwanda, but Bafana Bafana’s emphatic 3-0 victory secured their direct ticket to the World Cup.
It’s a painful outcome for Nigeria, who must now go through the CAF playoffs after missing the 2022 edition in Qatar.
