Inaki (L) and Nico Williams (R) are players of Bilbao

Athletic Bilbao will be without star wingers Nico and Iñaki Williams for the decisive second leg of their UEFA Europa League semifinal against Manchester United on Thursday, May 8, 2025.

The club confirmed that both players are unavailable for the trip to Old Trafford, a significant setback as they attempt to overturn a 3-0 deficit from the first leg.

Nico Williams was left out of Ernesto Valverde’s matchday squad, announced on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

The 22-year-old also missed the weekend’s La Liga encounter with Real Sociedad due to ongoing fitness concerns.

His elder brother, Iñaki Williams, featured in that match but was substituted in the 62nd minute of the goalless draw, raising doubts about his readiness, doubts that have now been confirmed with his omission.

Adding to Bilbao’s woes, the club’s leading scorer this season, Oihan Sancet, who has netted 17 goals in all competitions, has also been left out of the squad for Thursday’s showdown.

Facing a mountain to climb against a strong Manchester United side, Valverde’s men will have to attempt the comeback without three of their most influential attacking players.
