The National Investment Bank (NIB) has donated GH¢100,000 to the Ghana Sports Fund to support sports development across the country.
The cheque was presented by Mrs. Esther Agyemang Prempeh, Acting Chief Client Experience and Corporate Communications Officer, on behalf of the bank’s management. She said NIB recognizes the critical role sports play in national development and was proud to contribute to the newly established fund.
The donation was received by the Fund’s Administrator, Dr David Kofi Mawuvi Wuaku, and the Board Chairperson, Prof. Korye Anim-Wright. Dr Wuaku expressed gratitude to NIB, noting that the bank is the first institution to contribute to the initiative aimed at strengthening sports in Ghana.
He explained that the fund would be used to promote and finance sports development, support athlete welfare, improve infrastructure, and invest in grassroots programs.
The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, commended NIB for the gesture and assured the bank that the funds would be used judiciously, describing funding as the biggest challenge facing Ghana’s sports sector.
