In a groundbreaking initiative, the Nhyiramma Foundation has empowered over 300 widows and single mothers in Akuapem North, Eastern Region, Ghana.
The comprehensive empowerment program, held on March 1, 2025, aimed to improve the socio-economic well-being of vulnerable women by equipping them with essential resources and skills for financial independence.
Key Highlights of the Program
– Financial Support: A total of GHS 10,000.00 in capital was provided to selected beneficiaries, enabling them to establish or expand their businesses.
– Skills Training: Participants received hands-on training in liquid soap, fabric softener, and body cream production, promoting self-sufficiency and providing an additional source of income.
– Customer Service Training: A session on customer service emphasized the importance of excellent customer relations for business success.
– Dementia Awareness: An awareness session on dementia, led by mental health nurses, educated attendees on early detection and caregiving strategies.
Community Support and Partnerships
The initiative was chaired by Amb Bishop Samuel Ben Owusu, United Nations Eminent Peace Ambassador, and supported by Hon. Sammy Awuku, Member of Parliament for Akuapem North Constituency, and traditional leaders.
