More than 5,000 young women across Ghana have been equipped with vocational and entrepreneurial skills over the past five years through the intervention of the NZURI UHAI Foundation, as the organization intensifies efforts to promote women’s economic empowerment and self-reliance.

The milestone was announced during the Foundation’s fifth anniversary conference held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Founder and Executive Director, Dionne Akom Tweneboah, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to expanding opportunities for vulnerable young women through mentorship, vocational skills training, and personal development programmes.

According to her, the Foundation has trained thousands of beneficiaries in hairdressing, dressmaking, and other income-generating skills, enabling many of them to establish businesses and achieve financial independence.

“The Foundation is committed to increasing the number of beneficiaries in the years ahead to ensure that more young women are empowered to contribute meaningfully to national development,” she said.

Despite the Foundation’s achievements, Madam Tweneboah identified inadequate funding as one of its biggest challenges, explaining that limited financial resources continue to hinder the expansion of its vocational training programmes and the provision of accommodation for trainees.

She appealed to individuals, corporate organizations, development partners, and philanthropists to support the Foundation’s mission.

“Our doors are open to supporters and financiers who are willing to partner with us to train and empower more young women,” she added.

She further called on the government, non-governmental organizations, corporate institutions, and development partners to support the Foundation’s initiatives to strengthen vocational training programmes, establish more safe spaces for survivors of domestic violence, and expand its operations beyond Ghana.

Madam Tweneboah also encouraged young women to believe in their abilities, stressing that success is attainable through determination, discipline, and hard work. She urged them to take advantage of every opportunity to develop their talents and remain committed to pursuing their dreams despite life’s challenges.
