New Dansoman drainage to measure 2 metres high and 5 metres wide – Engineer Tsegah

The new underground drainage system being constructed at Dansoman Junction, popularly known as Hansonic, will measure two metres in height and five metres in width, according to the Maintenance Engineer for the Ablekuma North Municipality, Kwaku Tsegah.

Mr Tsegah explained that the new drain would be constructed underground, with the surface above it serving as a roadway.

According to him, the new structure would be significantly larger than the existing drain, which he said had outlived its purpose and was no longer adequate to handle the volume of water in the area.

The project is being undertaken by the Department of Urban Roads as part of efforts to address persistent flooding and drainage challenges at the busy Dansoman Junction.

Mr Tsegah said the first phase of the project is focused on stopping and diverting running water into the old drainage system.

He explained that this would enable engineers to safely undertake the construction of the new underground drain.

The new drainage system is expected to improve stormwater flow and provide a lasting solution to the flooding that has affected the area for several years.

The project is also expected to improve access and road conditions around the busy junction once construction is completed.
