New Black Stars goalkeepers’ coach Daniel Gasper has begun settling into his role with a visit to Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak, where he met first-choice goalkeeper Benjamin Asare.
Gasper, who was officially announced just about a week ago, replaces Fatau Dauda in the role, although the former Ghana international remains part of the technical setup.
The experienced Portuguese-American tactician is no stranger to Queiroz, having worked closely with him since 1992 in various capacities including assistant coach, goalkeepers coach, and technical advisor across several clubs and national teams.
His arrival is expected to strengthen the technical department, following the earlier addition of long-time Queiroz associate Roger De Sa as the new assistant.
Now in Ghana, Gasper has wasted no time getting familiar with the local scene, making a stop at Hearts of Oak’s training base earlier today.
The visit offered him the opportunity to observe sessions and interact directly with players, particularly Asare, who has established himself as Ghana’s number one goalkeeper for over a year now.
The meeting between Gasper and Asare is seen as a key step in building relationships within the squad, and the interaction they had was described as positive as preparations intensify.
Ghana will kick off their Group L campaign at the global stage against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23, and round off the group phase against Croatia on June 27
