The chief of Bonsuoku, Nenyi Kweku Kwei VI, has officially held a sod cutting ceremony to construct an ultra modern market and a police station for his community.

The sod cutting formality which officially commenced the construction of the two pressing facilities, also marked the fulfilment of a pledge made by Nenyi Kwei VI to his people during his enstoolment.

It would be recalled that during his installation, Nenyi Kwei assured his people of the development of the community to improve the livelihood emphasising it would be his topmost priority.

Speaking at the official ceremony on Saturday, November 23, 2024, Nenyi Kwei VI stated that he was concerned about the hustles young people who desired to venture into businesses often faced citing the lack secured environment as an example.

To address this, he indicated that the yet to be built multipurpose market, would provide safe and adequate spaces for dressmakers and other artisans to work and also keep their machines safely.

“After the successful completion of your apprenticeship, you don’t have to go round looking for money to buy a container before you could work. You just pick your machines and move into the market because they would be available shops”. He said.

According to Nenyi Kwei VI, the market would also have retail and wholesale depots to save time and travelling risks market men and women mostly endured to bring goods directly from factories in Accra.

As a fast sprawling community, the market at Bonsuoku would be expected to serve as a central hub for trading activities to bolster the the economic drive of the town.

Additionally, it would be expected to create jobs for local traders and serve as a source of income for individuals, families and contribute profoundly to reducing the plight the local people had to endure for not having a market.

According to Nenyi Kwei VI, since the market is envisaged to create employments, it also has the propensity to increase the population of Bonsuoku because of the strategic location of the market.

As a result, he said, there was the urgent need to also provide security for the market in particular, and the community as a whole so that businessmen and women in the area would not become soft targets for miscreants.

This, he explained, necessitated his desire and that of his entire nananom to build a befitting police station where policemen could be accommodated to help deal with any threats from criminals.

If completed, the police station, on the other hand, would be essential for the maintenance of law and order to ensure the safety of the public and promote maximum security for the community.

The presence of a police post in the town would deter would-be criminals, trouble makers and provide swift response to the security needs of the people.
