Malik Basintale, the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) deputy communication officer, reportedly disclosed that two NPP government appointees were “caught” trying to escape Ghana.
This revelation comes on the heels of the NDC’s victory in the 2024 elections, which has sparked calls from various Ghanaians for a thorough investigation into the actions of officials from the outgoing Nana Addo administration. Many citizens are eager to see those involved in corrupt practices held accountable.
Hopeson Adorye, a former member of the NPP, recently posted on social media that he intended to “hijack” the airport in order to stop any current government leaders from departing the nation. He justifies this audacious action by making sure that these individuals attend the swearing-in of the new administration, when he intends to reveal a number of corrupt practices, including claims of misappropriation while they were in office.
Adding to the conversation, Malik Basintale pointed out that current government officials should not think they can easily escape justice. He made it clear in his social media statement that there would be no safe passage for them unless they somehow managed to “escape on eagle backs.” He appears to be upholding accountability, stating that these officials must answer to the people of Ghana.
His post ended on a positive note: “Remain composed. We’ve already captured two! “There is no room for them again around any border unless they escape on eagle’s backs,” the statement reads in its entirety. Remain composed. We’ve already caught two?
A new age of openness and accountability in Ghana’s administration has begun with the NDC’s declaration that it is dedicated to making sure those who have abused their positions pay for their actions.
