The authorities of Navrongo Senior High School (NAVASCO) in the Upper East Region, together with the National Executive of the Old Students Association, yesterday paid a courtesy call on Mr Haruna Iddrisu to congratulate him on his appointment as the Minister of Education.

The delegation was led by the President of the Old Students Association, Alabira Ibrahim, a former Member of Parliament for Mion in the Northern Region, who is now the Paramount Chief of Sakpe traditional area at Dagbon, and the Headmistress of the school, Ms Mercy Babachuweh.

The delegation congratulated Mr Iddrisu on behalf of all Navascans (old students). They praised the new minister for his hard work that propelled him to his current position, adding that his elevation reflected the motto of the Association- “Nabia, We Shine Globally!”

The Sakpe-Naa stressed that the NABIA fraternity were glad to hear the minister commenting favourably about his alma mater (NAVASCO), when he was being vetted for the ministerial position, where he asserted that it was Navasco that laid the foundation for him to become who he is today.

The Headmistress of the school, Ms Babachuweh, on her part, thanked the minister for accepting to be the Guest Speaker at the school’s Speech and Prize Giving Day, last November 2024, despite his busy campaign schedule.

In his response, the Minister, who is also the Tamale South MP, noted that he was elated to have Old Students and the school authorities of his alma mater, Navasco, calling on him.

He stressed that he would always be proud of Navasco for instilling discipline in him during his formative years.

The minister promised to assist Navasco in getting its fair share of infrastructure as part of the government’s development plan for all schools in Ghana.
