Nancy Guthrie neighbor gave vital information to police that prompted search on roof of her home: Live updates

Nancy Guthrie’s neighbor gives police vital information that prompted them to check her roof after she went missing last weekend.

Guthrie, 84, was reported missing on Sunday after failing to show up to a church event.

Now, a neighbor has told police they should check Guthrie’s roof after she saw aerial footage on TV of the home.

‘You see in that image, you see how white her roof is,’ Laura Gargano told CNN. ‘The previous three weeks we had a lot of rain, so it would be normal for a roof to a be little dirty after it rains.’

The neighbor told police to check if the elderly woman recently had her roof recoated as it could potentially lead to suspects.

Gargano said her garage roof is flat and it easily gets dirty. So when she saw how white Guthrie’s roof was, it drew suspicion due to the previous weather events that had run the area recently.

‘That’s just one thing to check,’ she said.

Police believe Guthrie is alive, and her three children, including Today Show host Savannah Guthrie, have pleaded with her abductors to let her come home.

FBI agents return to Guthrie’s home

Pima County Sheriff isn’t going to update the public without new evidence

Despite being criticized for his handling of the Nancy Guthrie case, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said he does not plan on hosting any more press conferences ‘unless we have some real evidence or something to bring up to you,’ he said.

‘It’s pretty pointless to just keep hounding the same things over and over, Nanos said on Thursday.

The Sheriff’s Department is working alongside the FBI to hopefully help find the 84-year-old, who went missing on Sunday.

Nanos was previously criticized for shutting down the crime scene too early and for not deploying a Cessna aircraft after the grandmother was reported missing.
