Nana Romeo is a media personality

Radio presenter and media personality Nana Romeo has expressed frustration over the performance of some government appointees, including the Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture, Dzifa Gomashie, and Black Star Experience Coordinator Rex Omar.

According to him, despite high expectations, their impact has yet to be felt.

Speaking on United Showbiz, Romeo shared how he was excited over the appointment of these personalities, noting how they would have helped boost the creative arts sector.

However, according to him, seven months down the line, he has yet to notice their impact.

“When the appointments came in, I was confident that Dzifa Gomashie would work. But so far, I haven’t seen anything. As well as Rex Omar, I haven’t seen anything from him. They made all these promises, but we haven’t seen anything. They say it’s just nine months, so we should relax, but time is running out,” he lamented.

Reacting to the recent meeting between members of the media and President John Dramani Mahama, he questioned the selection process of journalists invited to the recent presidential media address, suggesting that organisers chose individuals they were comfortable with.

“What criteria were they using to select journalists for the address with the president? It’s like they were selecting the people they were comfortable with. I’m not saying all of them were NDC journalists, but it’s like they have a good relationship with the organisers. So no one was ready to ask the important questions,” he said.

Meanwhile, Rex Omar, in an interview with GhanaWeb in an X space discussion, noted that the ministry was doing work.

Omar had stated that it would take about two years to begin to see substantial progress in implementing the Black Star Experience scheme.

He added that existing programs in the creative arts

would be “built upon and emphasised.”
