As tributes continue to pour in following the passing of Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba, prominent industry figures are urging that his legacy be honoured with more than just funeral rites.

Among the most vocal advocates is Nana Poku Ashis, manager of renowned highlife artiste Kwabena Kwabena, who is calling on Charterhouse, organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), to organise a national celebration in memory of the late icon.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz with Kwame Dadzie, Ashis emphasized that Charles Kwadwo Fosu, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba, deserves a tribute that reflects his extraordinary influence on Ghana’s music, culture, and even politics.

“The iconic Lumba needs a national celebration, and I am urging Charterhouse to lead this campaign,” Ashis stated. “Try and put together an event where we will have our stars come and honour the legend.”

Ashis proposed a pre-funeral tribute concert that would mirror the VGMA’s popular musical homage segments, where top artists perform timeless hits from Ghana’s music greats.

He suggested that artists such as Fameye, Kwabena Kwabena, and others could perform some of Daddy Lumba’s most beloved tracks.

“Before his burial, we should do something of that sort. Even if it’s a paid event, I am sure it will be a sold-out show,” he added confidently.
