Sutton United triumphed over Tottenham Hotspur Academy with a commanding 3-0 win in the National League Cup, thanks to goals from Lewis Simper, Shaun Williams, and Harry Ransom.
The victory showcased the squad’s depth and resilience, with English-born Ghanaian striker Nana Boateng playing a pivotal role.
The hosts struck early, as Simper netted in the 8th minute with a composed finish following a deflected pass. Spurs Academy, featuring their technically gifted players, applied pressure through Damola Ajayi and Yusuf Akhamrich but were repeatedly denied by Sutton’s steadfast keeper, Steve Arnold.
The second half began with another quick blow from Sutton. Boateng dazzled in the 51st minute, skillfully outmanoeuvering the Spurs defence before delivering a pinpoint assist to trialist Shaun Williams, who slotted home his first goal for the club. Boateng’s creative spark proved crucial, setting the tone for a dominant display.
Ransom sealed the win in stoppage time, converting at the back post to cap a strong team performance. Sutton now look to maintain their momentum as they prepare for their FA Trophy clash against Ebbsfleet United.
