    The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has been granted GH¢10 million bail by the High Court in Accra after he pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit crime, money laundering and causing financial loss to the State.

    The bail, granted on Saturday, came with a condition for the accused to produce two sureties and deposit his passport with the Court Registry.

    The MPs for Bosome Freho and Effia, Nana Asafo-Adjei Ayeh and Isaac Boamah-Nyarko, respectively, stood as sureties for the accused and were present in court.

    Nana Baffour Awuah is accused of causing financial loss of GH¢9.85 million to the State in financial transactions involving SIC Life Savings and Loans.

    Justice Charity Akosua Asem, a Court of Appeal Judge sitting with additional responsibility as a High Court Judge, also directed the Legislator to make himself available to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) whenever required for investigations.

    Prosecuting, the Deputy Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, did not oppose the application for bail but urged the court to impose conditions that would ensure the accused’s attendance at court. Read More
