In the Tema High Court, Ghanaian gospel singer Empress Gifty Adorye has sued controversial self-styled evangelist Patricia Asiedua, also known as Nana Agradaa, for defamation. Osei Aidoh Akpokavie and Co., the law firm representing Empress Gifty, formally filed the complaint on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, according to court documents that her husband, Hopeson Adorye, released. Although there are still few specifics of the defamation case, the gospel performer is requesting GH?20 million in damages for libel and slander. She also asks the court to issue a “perpetual injunction restraining the defendant, her servants, agents, privies, and assigns from publishing such words or any similar statements that defame the plaintiff” in her statement of claim.

The court should order Nana Agradaa to remove “all videos and audios containing defamatory remarks about the plaintiff from all her social media platforms,” Empress Gifty further argued. “Costs, including legal fees incurred in the pursuit of justice” is another order she is seeking. The legal dispute stems from a string of livestreams and postings on Nana Agradaa’s Facebook page, in which she is accused of continually making derogatory and unprintable claims against the gospel singer. The ongoing attacks are seen by Empress Gifty’s legal team as a direct insult to her reputation and music business career.
