The Tema High Court has awarded GH¢100,000 in damages to gospel singer Empress Gifty Adorye in a defamation case against evangelist Patricia Asiedua, widely known as Nana Agradaa.

The decision, reported by GHOne News on January 20, 2026, follows a lawsuit Empress Gifty filed in May 2025 after a series of live social media broadcasts in which Agradaa was accused of making slanderous and libellous claims about the musician. The original suit sought GH¢20 million in damages.

Court records show the action was brought by Osei Aidoh Akpokavie & Co. at the Tema High Court. Beyond financial compensation, the case also asked the court to impose a perpetual injunction barring Agradaa from making further defamatory statements and to compel her to delete all related content from her social media pages.

The matter took a decisive turn in December 2025 when Agradaa, through her lawyers at Agyaa Asamani Law Consult, withdrew and disowned all allegations made against Empress Gifty. She conceded that the claims were untrue and said they were made “in the spur of the moment.”

As part of that retraction, Agradaa issued an unreserved apology to the gospel musician, admitting that her actions had harmed Empress Gifty’s reputation, professional career, and personal life. She also expressed regret to the singer’s family, friends, and associates.
