Once a controversial fetish priestess and now a self-proclaimed evangelist, Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has been found guilty in a high-profile fraud case that traces back to 2022.

An Accra Circuit Court, presided over by Justice Evelyn Asamoah, convicted Agradaa on charges of “charlatanic advertisement” and “defrauding by false pretences.” The ruling followed revelations from a widely circulated video in which she was seen promising to double money for attendees of a spiritual all-night service at her church, Heaven Way, located in Weija.

During the court proceedings, Justice Asamoah directed that Agradaa undergo a pregnancy test before sentencing. The duration of her prison term has not yet been announced.

The conviction comes nearly three years after her arrest on Sunday, October 9, 2022, in response to public allegations that she ran a fraudulent money-multiplication scheme during a church gathering two days prior.

“The police have arrested Patricia Asiedua, alias Nana Agradaa, following allegations of a money-doubling scam levelled against her by some members of the public. The suspect is currently assisting with police investigations,” the Ghana Police Service stated during the period.

The now-infamous service held on October 7, 2022, allegedly lured congregants with promises of multiplied financial blessings. However, multiple attendees later claimed they were deceived, having handed over sums of money to Agradaa only to be dismissed without receiving the returns she had assured them.

Several of the victims shared their frustrations online, alleging that Agradaa took their money and sent them away without explanation or refund. The backlash triggered widespread outrage, drawing the attention of law enforcement and sparking an official investigation.

Following her initial arrest, authorities encouraged others affected by the incident to report to the Accra Regional Police Command to support the probe into the scheme.
